A young man, named Druvsila, came near Master Chetnanand and said- Master, I have
gained full knowledge about truth of life; I have deeply studied Scriptures and
deontology, yet my mind is not stable. Whenever I do any work, my mind seems to
wander, and then I leave that work. What is the reason behind this instability?
Master
told him to wait till night.
At
night, Master brought Druvsila lakeside and by showing reflection of Moon in the
lake, asked- Are you seeing something?
Druvsila
said- Yes, I’m seeing the image of Moon in lake.
Master
asked- How is this image looking to you?
Druvsila
replied- Clear and beautiful, it seems like Moon has come down in the lake.
Then only,
Master took a stone and threw it in the lake, by which image of Moon flickered
and became unclear. Then Master again asked- Now is the image of Moon also visible
to you?
Master
explained- Your mind is same as the lake and your knowledge is like the reflection
of Moon. You have acquired knowledge and studied Scriptures but the image of
that knowledge will be clear to you only when you will keep your mind calm and
silent, then the beauty of your knowledge will enlighten your life, same as the
shadow of beautiful Moon in the silent lake.
Since
then, Druvsila did his work with calm and concentrated mind; in this way he
made his life successful.
Dear
friends, Knowledge make life successful and happy when we acquire it with
full concentration and patience; the knowledge gained with restless and
unstable mind is vain and unclear. Thank You.
