Ramakrishna Paramhans was a great saint and thinker. He
lived rigorous life. He was worshipper of all religion and was a devotee of Goddess
Kali. It is said that Goddess Kali gave him the glimpse.
Once upon a time, a disease spread in the village next
to the hermitage of saint Paramhans.
During those days, one disciple named ‘Narendra’, wanted
to go for penance in Himalayas, that’s why he came to take permission from his master
saint Paramhans.
Saint Paramhans said- Dear son, people around us are
starving and suffering from disease; the pain of disease and starvation is
spreading around; society is in trouble and in this turbulent situation you
want to go to Himalaya for meditation while the society and people need you.
Narendra had come with strong will power so he
apologized- Master, I want to gain knowledge from meditation so that I could
spread that knowledge in whole world. Please, kindly give me permission and
blessings so that I could achieve success in my work.
Saint Paramhans didn’t want to stop Narendra, he knew that
Narendra’s aim was welfare of world but at that moment village people were in
great need of Narendra. But still, he blessed him and let him go.
As soon Narendra went out from hermitage, there was
dense cloud in the sky and torrential rain started with thunder and storm, so
ghastly rain that it was difficult for Narendra to step forward.
Narendra came back and said- Master, what have you
done this!
Saint Paramhans calmly said- I didn’t want to stop you
but it was also important to stop you. In two important works, we must give importance to
that work which is urgent. Your aim is welfare of world but this time village
people need you more so I prayed to God and God sent his own message to stop
you.
Then Narendra remained in hermitage for the few days,
helped sick and diseased suffering people.
That boy Narendra was later famous as Swami
Vivekananda.
Dear friends, If we pray to God with ingenuous
heart then God shows right path to walk on. Second thing, for fulfilment of big
aim we should not neglect small works. Thank You.
