In Toronto,
debate competition was held every year, in which many scholars from far off
states participated.
Once in
debate competition a scholar came, named ‘Hundao White’.
Debate
competition began but no one could beat Hundao. On whatever topic debate was done,
Hundao argued such that the other competitors became speechless. In this way, Hundao
won the debate competition.
Then each
coming year, he won the debate competition. Every person appreciated his
knowledge and called him ‘Debate Master Hundao’ so he had pride of his
knowledge and that pride was clearly reflected in his behaviour because no one
won in debate with him.
Like
this, in a year Hundao was running on top spot but this time a young
intelligent lady, named Padmini was also moving equivalent to Hundao in debate
competition.
As
expected, in final stage of the competition debate began on various topics
between Hundao and Padmini.
Both
were giving their best arguments in every topic. Abruptly, Padmini asked Hundao-
Over the years, you’re the winner of the debate competition. Now give me answer
of one question: what is that, by knowing which there is nothing more to know; by
knowing that immortality can be attained and every wanting disappears?
On
this Hundao replied- That is ’infinite knowledge’. Knowing which human becomes
indestructible but no one can gain that infinite knowledge because there is no
one to gain that.
By
listening this, Padmini said- you’re right but on one hand you said, by knowing
that human becomes immortal and on the other hand you said, no one can gain that;
what is the relation between these two sentences? It seems you’ve achieved
proficiency in arguments while you’ve shown no interest in acquiring real
knowledge; you yourself got entangled in your words.
On
this, Hundao had no answer and that became the decisive point which made
Padmini the winner of the debate competition.
Then Hundao
realised- I’ve achieved proficiency in debate and arguments, thought own self superior and knowledgeable, but today I got entangled myself in my own
arguments; whereas real knowledge is miles away from debates and arguments.
Dear
friends, To achieve proficiency in debates and arguments doesn’t mean to acquire
knowledge; because real knowledge is above all these. Thank You.
