Race in Dark Tunnel

Master Takasuki always taught the subject of social welfare in Gurukul and every year he took a test of final year Pupils after completing their education.

One such year, some final year Pupils had completed their education so they were preparing to go home. On the day of farewell ceremony Master Takasuki called all Pupils to gather in the field.

In field, Master said to all final year Pupils- Today, Y’all’s education have been completed, before departing from Gurukul y’all have to participate in a race. In this race, y’all have to run barefooted in a long dark tunnel. On the other side of the tunnel I’ll wait for you.

As race began, all Pupils started to run fast but as they entered in the tunnel everyone’s speed had slowed down, because there was much darkness, and small sharp stones which were spread at the bottom of tunnel were stinging in the feet of Pupils.

Somehow, all Pupils gathered in front of the master by finishing the race. After completing the race by all Pupils, Master Takasuki asked- Why some Pupils finished the race so late?

The Pupil who came last answered- Oh Master, We all ran together with same speed but entering into the tunnel the situation had changed. Everyone began to overtake by pushing each other, but two-three Pupils like me started to collect stinging stones and kept in the pocket so that it won’t hurt the Pupils coming from behind and the Pupils who would run in this tunnel in future.

Master said to late coming Pupils- Come forward; Show the stones of your pocket.

Only Four Pupils came forward and showed the stones out of the pocket. All got amazed because to which they were assuming stones those were small pieces of diamond.

Then all Pupils began to look towards Master.

Master explained- There is nothing surprising! I cleaned up the tunnel and spread small pieces of diamond in place of stones. That’s why I ordered to run barefooted. Every year, all final year’s Pupils in their farewell ceremony run in the dark tunnel and only three-four Pupils pick up those stones because they are filled with feeling of social welfare. This is my reward to those Pupils who think about the welfare of others and society. Everyone is running in order to achieve something in life but who thinks for the welfare of society achieves wealth-fame-joy and prosperity.

In this way, Master gave them farewell by infusing the education of social welfare.

Dear friends, The desire of wealth-fame-joy and prosperity will be completed when we do work for the welfare of others and society. The people who work with the feeling of social welfare create such a family-society-country which is filled with happiness-glory and prosperity. Thank You.
