Wanly and Her Infant

The upbringing of small monkeys is done by their mothers like climbing from one tree to other.

Story starts with a female monkey, named ‘Wanly’ which had one infant. When the infant monkey began to grow, its mother was giving it training of how to climb up and down the trees.

After some days of training, One day Wanly told her infant- Today is the last day of your training, think as if it is time for your examination. After this, you yourself will be matured; will find your food yourself and live your life according to your own. Today, you have to climb the highest branch of this long tree and then come down; this is final exam of your training.

Infant monkey quickly climbed the tree and in few seconds reached the highest branch of that big tree, then rapidly returned back; but while returning when it had completed the half way, its mother warned it by saying- Child, this tree is much slippery, so walk down slowly-slowly by looking all around. There is lots of moss, and the fear of being skidding is high.

The infant monkey carefully came downwards.

After coming down, it asked its mother- In that long tree when I climbed upwards you didn’t say anything, but when I was coming downwards you told me to walk down slowly. If I had climbed upwards successfully then I could also return down successfully?

Wanly replied- Dear son, climbing on that slippery long tree was a tough task, that’s why while climbing upwards you were yourself cautious but while returning back you might fall due to over-confidence so I informed you; because while coming close to our goal we become over-confident and the level of doing mistakes increases.

This way, infant monkey learned about the harm of over-confidence which was the last part of his training.

Dear friends, Self-confidence is helpful to achieve our goal but little bit of over-confidence can make us fall. That’s why it’s necessary to maintain a distance between confidence and over confidence. Thank You.
