Robin and a Gentleman

This story is based on real incident. Robin, who was a taxi driver, lived in Mumbai city.

The monthly income of Robin was not much due to which it was hard to live through with a family of six members included his wife, three children, an old mother and he himself.

Robin was much tensed because his financial condition was not proper. He wanted to earn more and more money but whatever hard work he did; income couldn’t increase more than ten to twelve thousand rupees.

One evening, Robin was returning back home. That day he couldn’t earn much so he was little sad, then only he saw one gentleman was calling for taxi.

Coming close to gentleman, Robin asked- Good evening sir, where you want to go? Sit in my taxi, I’ll leave you there.

Gentleman sat in Robin’s taxi and by telling the address said him to move.

Robin was garrulous, folksy and kind man. Talking with each other, they were moving forward.

Gentleman had known platonically about Robin’s behaviour, family and his income; then by giving an offer asked- If you earn ten thousand daily then how it would be? If you work with me then easily you can earn ten to fifteen thousand rupees daily.

Robin excitedly asked gentleman- What is that work, which gives me ten to fifteen thousand rupees in a day?

Gentleman said by showing one white pouch to Robin- My man will daily give you a bag filled with this type of white pouches; if you safely deliver bag to its right place then immediately you’ll get five thousand rupees. In this way, as many times you’ll deliver bag to its right place, you’ll be given five thousand rupees.

Robin thought in his mind- If daily I deliver two to three bag to right place then I can earn ten to fifteen thousand rupees a day.

Thinking this, Robin without seeing here and there, not asked any question and directly agreed on the proposal given by gentleman.

On consent of Robin, gentleman told- From where you’ll receive bag and where you have to deliver, this information you’ll get on your mobile number. But remember, whenever you’ll be going to deliver the bag; mistakenly don’t let any passenger to sit in your taxi.

Robin agreed by yes. In this way, simple living Robin in greed of earning money started the work of delivering the bag of white pouches to its right place. He was unaware that white pouches were of banned drugs.

Robin daily started earning ten to fifteen thousand rupees; his greed of money increased. He was blind in greed of money and forgot that gentleman had informed him, don’t let any passenger to sit in taxi while delivering bag; so one day while delivering bag full of white pouches, he made one person to sit in his taxi.

Due to Robin’s garrulous and folksy behaviour, that person in talks asked about the bag kept on next front seat.

Robin simply answered- It is someone’s bag which I’m going to deliver.

The person was drug inspector from Narcotics Department and was patrolling to catch the drugs racket in the city. Inspector doubted on Robin, so by calling his fellows he inquired Robin and arrested him.

When Robin was caught, he pleaded that he was innocent and didn’t have any information about that gentleman and his racket because in greed of money he didn’t ask anything about white pouches.

Inspector understood that drug racket had made fool of simple Robin by giving greed of earning money, then inspector told Robin about those white pouches and made him to go to the same place where he was going to deliver the bag. In this way, inspector along with Robin caught the drug racket.

However, due to good nature of drug inspector and the assay to understand people, Robin was forgiven but from that day onwards he never came into greed of earning money.

Dear friends, We all wish to earn money but the shortcut way of earning money is always of dishonesty and of wrong work only. In greed of money, don’t ever do any work without thinking. Thank You.
